Originally part of the state-owned conglomerate British Leyland (BL), Unipart was a distributor of service parts for BL (and later, Austin Rover) vehicles. It was demerged from BL's successor - the Rover Group - in a 1987 management buyout, is partially employee-owned and is one of the largest privately-owned companies in the UK. For the year ending 2016, the company had a turnover of £747.7 million.
