Tynemouth Castle and Priory

Tynemouth Castle and Priory is a historic site located on a rocky promontory overlooking the North Sea near Tynemouth. The medieval Benedictine priory was protected by walls, towers, and a gatehouse. The heraldry of the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside, inherited from the County Borough of Tynemouth (1904-1974), includes three crowns commemorating the three kings who have been buried in the priory.
