The chain operates full-scale supermarkets. Tops is a subsidiary of Northeast Grocery, which also owns the Price Chopper and Market 32 supermarkets based in Schenectady, New York. As of August 2022, the company operated 149 stores and 59 gas station/convenience stores. The chain formerly operated stores in Ohio and Massachusetts.
