Supervisor Engine (Cisco)
The Cisco Supervisor Engine serves as the central processing unit for numerous Cisco switches. Over time, the supervisor engine has undergone multiple iterations. While it functions as the management component for many routers, the switch's capability often surpasses that of the supervisor engine. This is attributed to the fact that in most switches, numerous functions are accelerated by Application-specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) chips.
