Sam Cane

Samuel Jordan Cane (born 13 January 1992) is a New Zealand professional rugby union player who plays as a flanker for Japan Rugby League One club Tokyo Sungoliath and is the former captain of the New Zealand national team.

2012 saw Cane earn his debut for New Zealand internationally. Cane succeeded Kieran Read as the All Blacks' captain on May 5, 2020. He has represented King Country in the Heartland Championship, Bay of Plenty in the National Provincial Championship, and the Chiefs in Super Rugby.

On 28 October 2023, Cane became the first player ever to receive a red card in a men's Rugby World Cup final after an illegal high challenge.
