Mahabad
Mahabad (Persian: مهاباد, Sorani Kurdish: مەهاباد, Kurdish: Mehabad), also Romanized as Mihābād and Muhābād, and formerly known as Savojbolagh (Persian: ساوجبلاغ), is a city in the Central District of Mahabad County, West Azerbaijan province, Iran, and serves as capital of both the county and the district.

The city lies south of Lake Urmia in a narrow valley 1,300 metres above sea level.
