Ras Baraka
Ras Jua Baraka (born April 9, 1970) is an American educator, author, and Democratic Party politician who is the 40th and current mayor of Newark, New Jersey. He was previously a member of the Municipal Council of Newark and the principal of the city's Central High School. Barack was first elected mayor of Newark on May 13, 2014, and he was sworn in as the city's 40th mayor at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on July 1, 2014. He won re-election in 2018 and 2022.
