Rajpurohit
Rajpurohit is a Brahmin sub-caste residing in South Asia, historically as chief ministers and high priests of the various Hindu Rajput dynasties. They held important roles as leading secular and ecclesiastical aristocracy in establishing and governing classical and medieval Hindu kingdoms. Their ancestors belonged to the dynasties of the seven primordial great saints Saptarishis. They maintain traditions that are similar to both Brahmins and Rajputs. They have been historically engaged in administration, trading, banking, landholding jagirdar, and as royal council members and warriors. and are spread across entire country. They were given villages and estates at boundary of kingdom. According to political analysts, the Rajput, Rajpurohit and Charan communities are considered to be identical in regards to their social customs and political ideologies.
