The station is owned by Gray Television, and maintains studios on East Lincolnway/East 14th Street/I-80 BUS/US 30 in Cheyenne; its transmitter is located in unincorporated Laramie County (west of Cheyenne) between I-80/US 30 and WYO 225.

KGWN provides NBC programming on its second digital subchannel through a simulcast of sister station KNEP in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, while its third subchannel is the market's CW affiliate.
