As a recording artist, he became known for extensive use of the Auto-Tune vocal effect. His single "Pop Champagne" with Jim Jones and Juelz Santana entered the Billboard Hot 100 along with his guest appearance on Busta Rhymes' single "Arab Money" that same year. After signing with Universal Motown, he released several other Auto-Tune-laden singles which achieved local success but were mostly critically panned.
