Its members provide electricity for 220 million Americans, operate in 50 states and the District of Columbia, and directly employ more than one million workers.
EEI has 70 international electric companies as Affiliate Members, and 250 industry suppliers and related organizations as Associate Members.
The organization’s president is Thomas Kuhn, who announced in March 2023 that he would be retiring at the end of the year. They selected Dan Brouillette, who led the United States Department of Energy in the Presidency of Donald Trump, to be their next president. This choice was criticized by environmental groups.
