The association's national office is located at 2200 Research Boulevard, Rockville, Maryland. The organization also has an office on Capitol Hill.

Vicki R. Deal-Williams is currently serving as the association's chief executive officer.

In early February of 2024, the organization reported that it was going to raise its annual dues by 11 percent sparking a further out cry from its members. Many members are requesting refunds of their membership and planning on not being members all together. The climate in the in the work place for SLPs continues to get worse each year. There are very few raises, wages are dropping, caseloads are higher and unethical treatment practices have many SLPs leaving the field completely.
