Alasht

Alasht (Persian: آلاشت, meaning eagle sanctuary, also Romanized as Âlaŝt and Ālāsht) is a city in the Central District of Savadkuh County, Mazandaran province, Iran.

At the 2006 census, its population was 976 in 287 households. The following census in 2011 counted 874 people in 279 households. The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,193 people in 436 households.

Alasht is isolated by surrounding mountains, which gives it a cooler climate than most regions of the province. It is most known for being the birthplace of Reza Shah Pahlavi, the founder of the Pahlavi dynasty.
