Been fiddling around in IT since I fell out of the Control Engineering tree. I worked with a SCADA system Dexterity at that time.

The high point was when I worked for Sun between 1999 & 2002. I've mainly worked in AIX and Solaris on POWER and SPARC respectively. A long time ago I coded a little in DCL under VMS and worked briefly in Fortran77 under Primos. I wrote a Pascal program to control a 6 axis robot arm, including the assembly language to communicate over a serial link. Sadly, I admit I copied the matrix maths from a text book to work out the angles for each joint.

I use shellscript a lot but I've never really nailed Perl, Python or any other real scripting language. Apart from that I've had to admin various servers, virtualisation layers and storage machinery but never really broke into networking either. I dabble in Oracle and Sybase as a provisioning/backup admin so I know a bit of SQL. Additionally I've worked with a few Enterprise backup systems.
