Google Screen Sharing Technology

What technology do Google use for their Hangouts Screen Sharing? I've searched for a million times about it. Is it WebRTC? I think no! If it is, Why don't I need to enable a certain settings in chrome://flags (in Google Chrome) for it to work?

Any way to incoroprate Google Hangouts in a web app?

I would like to embed a Hangout into my web application. The application supports login via OAuth 2.0, but looking at the Hangout API it seems you can only develop apps within their container - Any ideas?
