My system is Windows 10, Project Pro 2019 (version 2307, build 16626.20170 CTR). I have a Project file (MPP) that was created by someone else using the French version of Project. He sent my the file via e-mail several weeks ago. I saved the file as a template (MPT) and was opening and closing the template file multiple times last week both manually and via a macro. Today when I tried to open the template, (via code or manually), I got a not-very-helpful error message saying "an unexpected error occurred during command execution" with suggestions about verifying argument names or saying I may have run out of memory. Interestingly in addition to the "cancel" and "help" buttons there is an "edit macro" button. There are no macros in the file and I am not out of memory.

I went back to the original file, from the e-mail, and dropped it on my desktop. It opened fine and I could save it as a template. The template file displays normally when first created, but if I close the template and attempt to re-open manually (double click on the file), I get the error message. If I open via File > Open from Project there is no error message, but there also is no file, visible or hidden.

When I first create the template I check for macros via Project Explorer in the VB Editor. None exist. Once I close the template, it's curtains and the error occurs whether I have VB active or not.

I created a template from another file on my desktop, (created on my English language version), and saved it as a template. That file opens without issue.

I'm at a loss as to why the French version file worked fine last week but not this week. The only difference on my system was a Windows update that was automatically installed sometime between when the process worked fine and now.
