Android resource linking failed (not found any solution)

Question

I have an "Android resource linking failed" problem on my Android project. I have tried every solution that I found on the internet but nothing happened. This problem occurred after I changed the image file on the drawable directory. How can I fix this problem?

If you have errors in one of your drawables. I see them all xml drawables then building fails. Make sure you have no syntax errors in your drawables. — Nasz Njoka Sr., Nov 22 '18 at 06:47

Can you locate the resource file 'R' in one of the java subfolders of your project at all? Seems like the location of the resourc file cannot be determined- I had the exact same problem just recently. If you cant locate 'R', it might be deleted off and that could be why there is a linking error.

If you cant locate it, try: Build -> Clean Project (that cleans the gradle file)

Alternatively: File->Invalidate Caches (and then sync the project with gradle files)

Give these a go and see if it changes anything. It may restore the resource file. If not, I suggest creating a new project and copying and pasting the code from the 'old' project into the new version, so you can make sure the resource file is restored and it should eliminate the linking error, too. You would need to re create all xml files and java classes, but depending on the size of your project it might be faster than trying to restore the resource file.
