I have using SSL with my google app engine application. I have it setup and the certificate is verified with sites like https://ssltools.websecurity.symantec.com/checker/views/certCheck.jsp. I have also tested the site with Java SSLPoke. Lastly, I have written a Java program to post to my site and that works too.

However, when I use to Portecle to examine my site, I am getting handshake issues. The javax.net.debug output is below.

Does anyone have any ideas why I might get this error?

Given that you see EOFException and IOException in getSession(): javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Remote host closed connection during handshake, it appears that the remote host closed the connection during the handshake.

I'm not sure if TLSv1 is supported, or whether there's no problem with that, but it's the best guess I have. Really, you'd have to post more info, and I wouldn't be too worried if every other site (including, crucially, browsers) was able to validate the cert and all.
