In 1918, President Woodrow Wilson outlined his "Fourteen Points" as a roadmap for post-World War I peace. Among his key proposals were open diplomacy, freedom of the seas, arms reduction, self-determination for ethnic groups, and the creation of a League of Nations to help prevent future conflicts.
