Questions tagged [jade]

Succulent house plant. Crassula ovata. Also known as: friendship tree, lucky plant, or money plant.

Jade, Crassula ovata, is a common succulent house plant which is native to South Africa. It is named after the leaves which are a rich jade green color, although some varieties may show a red tinge. Leaves grow in opposing pairs on each branch. Stems start out the same color but turn brown and woody over time. Flowers are small and star-like, typically in white or pink colors.

As with most houseplants, common pests include aphids and mealy bugs. Plants are notably susceptible to insecticides.

Note: the 'dwarf jade plant' is actually the unrelated Portulacaria afra.
