The Common Fig (Ficus carica) is a temperate species native to the Mediterranean and SW Asia, and has been cultivated since ancient times for its fruit (aka "figs").

Common figs should not be confused with the common name "Ficus Tree" which is Ficus benjamina which is a common house plant grown for its . F.benjamina fruit are small and popular with doves and pigeons, rather than humans.

Will a cutting from a wild fig tree grow more quickly in water or soil?

I intend to grow a wild Fig tree (Indian) from a cutting I broke off the foot path. Will it sprout roots faster in water or should I pot it and hope? The Pipal cutting has both root buds and branch sprouting.
