Questions tagged [evergreens]

Plant which retains its leaves during winter.

Evergreens are plants that retain their leaves during the winter season. Examples include holly and spruce. Evergreen plants tend to have leaves which are waxy or have a thicker protective layer, so that they survive the cold winter conditions.

This contrasts with deciduous plants which lose their leaves in autumn, and grow new leaves in spring. Examples include most oaks, elm, etc.

Use this tag for questions about evergreen plants in general - for example, choosing evergreen plants to meet a specific need. Questions about specific evergreen plants should use the appropriate tag for the plant in question.
