This is my first year starting annuals from seeds, mainly for containers. I've read that pinching off the first blooms helps the plant produce more blooms and form a bushier habit.
I started my seeds late and while they're at a good height and have…

I grew some Cardinal Climber plants from seed and have them in large pots on my porch. They were marvelously successful and took over the porch. It is beginning to get colder where I am and I am wondering if I can cut back the plants and bring them…

Impatiens glandulifera Himalayan balsam is considered a nuisance by some (eg a "prohibited noxious weed" under the Alberta Weed Control Act 2010) but it is colourful and the explosive pods are quite fun, ejecting seeds up to 7 metres (23 feet)† .…

Can I plant sun-loving annual seedlings in partial shade if the area will have full sun in a few weeks?
This is somewhat of a general question, as it applies to several things I'm growing, but to be specific enough, I've chosen to ask it about one plant.
I'm in Zone 6 (−5°F, -20°C).
I started some Magellan Ivory zinnia seeds indoors under…

Can you grow Baby's Breath very close to each other?
I was sprinkling some Baby's Breath (Gypsophila elegans) seeds on a planter and I was wondering if it's possible to grow all of them together even though they're very close instead of having to play a game of selection and thin out the crowd.
Let's…

Please identify this pale green weed
It's an annual, growing to about 10-20 cm. It does not seem to flower, unless some of the pale green growths are petals and not leaves; but it does spread.
It is easily killed with a hoe, unless it's too close to another plant. I can't eradicate it…
